Fish Stock Survey of Lough Corrib, June/July 2021
The lake was previously surveyed to assess its fish stocks by Inland Fisheries Ireland (formerly the Central Fisheries Board and the Western Regional Fisheries Board) in 1986 and 1996. The lake has been surveyed on four occasions since 2007.
During the most recent survey of the lake conducted in 2018, perch and roach x bream hybrids were the dominant species recorded with respect to numbers and biomass respectively. Brown trout, salmon, pike, three-spined stickleback, stone loach and eels were also captured during that survey.
This report summarises the results of the 2021 fish stock survey carried out on the lake using Inland Fisheries Ireland’s fish in lakes monitoring protocol. The protocol is WFD compliant and also provides insight into fish stock status in the lake.
